The high court in Nairobi has directed that the case challenging former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko’s bid to vie for the Mombasa governorship be referred to the chief justice to appoint a bench to hear and determine the matter.
High Court Judge Anthony Mrima made the ruling after an application certified urgent was filed before him seeking to quash an earlier decision by a Mombasa court that allowed the Sonko case to go to full trial.
And as Hassan Mugambi reports, the order restraining the IEBC from clearing Sonko to run for office remains in place.
