Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his forces recaptured three villages in the southern Kherson region on October 5. In his nightly address, Zelensky also said Ukraine was bidding to host the 2030 World Cup along with Spain and Portugal. Russian President Vladimir Putin in a televised meeting with teachers said that Russia has “great respect” for the Ukrainian people. Meanwhile, Putin also signed a decree making “corrections” to the partial mobilisation drive he announced on September 21.
